Consumers have always been skeptical about freebies such as a Free iPad. Is there a need for all this skepticism? Nothing in this world is for free. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of companies really give you a Free iPad but they will ask you to fill out a survey. A survey can be considered a form of currency. You exchange valuable demographic information for a highly sought out item such as an iPad. So it is not really free because they save millions of dollars in terms of research. Instead of hiring researchers and spending months trying to find enough people to acquire the data required, they merely hold an iPad giveaway event.

Technically it is free because you do not exchange real currency for it. Think of it as modern day barter. They have something you have which is information while they have something you want which is a state of the art product. They may lose one of their products but you lose nothing in exchange. Is it free? Not exactly but it requires only information sharing on your part.

Some iPad giveaway events require your credit card instead of a survey. Are these types of events scams? Not necessarily, although the internet is full of scams, all you need is the right information and a discerning eye to acquire a Free iPad of your own. This time there is no confusion if these types of giveaways are really free. They are in no way free but you can think of it as a huge discount that can even slash a hefty sum off a certain product’s price.

These types of events are held when two companies form a partnership. Think of it like those toothbrushes with free toothpastes you find in the supermarket. The reason for a partnership like this is that some products although effective and of high quality become unpopular due to the lack of advertisement. These companies partner with companies that have already made their mark on the community such as Apple. They ask you to buy their unpopular product so that the community can try them and in return they give you a product that is highly sought out like a Free iPad.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who wish to make a quick buck and mimic the said events in order to scam people. But that doesn’t mean that you should ignore these kinds of offers nor should you be overly skeptical. When you get an offer like a Free iPad, you should be wary and armed with information. Once you ascertain if they really are giving a Free iPad and that the iPad giveaway is done so that they may acquire information or sell an unpopular product then by all means take the opportunity. Like they say, “Carpe Diem or seize the day.” But you should never rush making decisions involving your credit card or personal information. Nothing in this world is free but there is such a thing as a good offer.
